Japan & Turkey Foreign Ministers Confirm Cooperation on Ukraine
Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi has held a meeting with Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu in the city of Antalya in southern Turkey.
Both ministers met to discuss the invasion of Ukraine, and the ministers agreed that Russia’s aggression against Ukraine infringes on Ukraine’s sovereignty, and constitutes a serious violation of international law.
Minister Hayashi expressed gratitude to Ankara who helped realize the meeting of the foreign ministers.
A joint press statement has since been released and Hayashi stated, “We will continue to work closely together and cooperate with each other to protect the foundations of the international order.”
Further co-operation on issues, including climate change and space, have also been confirmed by the two ministers, and a new meeting to discuss maritime affairs has been scheduled for the first half of the year.
The aim of this meeting will be to achieve stability in maritime order based on the law.
