    Hi Hana,

Maria has provided excellent suggestions on affordable travel and meal options in Japan. To build on her advice, I’d also recommend considering the following:

Walking and Cycling: In cities, especially smaller ones, a lot of the sights might be close enough that you can walk. For slightly longer distances, renting a bicycle for the day is often quite affordable.

Hostels and Guesthouses: If you’re open to meeting other travelers, hostels and guesthouses can be less expensive than hotels or ryokan (traditional inns). Many offer communal kitchens where you can prepare your meals, saving further on food costs.

Free Sightseeing: Look out for free or low-cost attractions. Many museums offer discounted tickets, and some are even free on certain days of the month. Gardens, parks, and temples often have low admission fees, and walking around a traditional neighborhood or market costs nothing at all.

Discount Shops: For daily necessities, try shopping at 100 yen shops (like Daiso or Can Do) – they offer a wide variety of products for just 100 yen.

Night Bus: If your travel times are flexible, consider taking a night bus between cities. It’s cheaper than the shinkansen and you’ll save on a night’s accommodation.

Mobile Apps: Use mobile apps for public transportation, they can help you find the cheapest or quickest route to your destination.

Remember, exploring Japan on a budget doesn’t mean you have to miss out on the experience. With some planning and flexibility, you can have an unforgettable time. Safe travels!
