Due to my age I don’t get the point bonus 20 and 30 years have when they apply for a work visa. What else can I do to boost my points?

    Hi Isabella,

Securing a work visa for Japan involves meeting a certain set of criteria, and while age can contribute to your points total, there are other ways to boost your application.

    1. Educational Background: Having a higher educational degree, like a Master’s or PhD, can contribute significantly to your points. Japan highly values education, so any advanced degrees or relevant certifications can help.

    2. Professional Experience: Years of work experience in your field can also increase your points. This is particularly true for industries in high demand in Japan, like engineering, IT, healthcare, and academia.

    3. Language Proficiency: Proficiency in the Japanese language can be a big plus. You might consider taking the Japanese-Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) or the Business Japanese Proficiency Test (BJT) to demonstrate your language skills. Fluent English is also highly valued, so a high score on a test like the TOEFL can also help.

    4. Job Offer and Salary: Having a job offer from a Japanese company is necessary for most work visas. The job’s salary can also impact your points, with higher salaries leading to more points.

    5. Achievements and Awards: If you’ve received any awards or recognitions in your field, be sure to include these in your application.

In addition to boosting your points, make sure your documents are in order and submitted on time, and ensure that your application is as complete and thorough as possible. Good luck with your application!

Best of luck with your application!
