I thought I’d share my story of growing a successful side business building websites 🙂
I have great sales skills and although I generate a lot of business through referrals now, I started out with classic cold outreach. And of course, my other skill is web design.
I don’t do anything fancy like ongoing maintenance or even hosting, just simple per project website creation.
I started out by myself but since until recently it was a side business, I eventually outsourced a lot of the work and just focused on client acquisition and client relationships. I think this is a great way to start an agency. Start out as a freelancer, but as you grow, turn it into a company with contractors or employees, and scale.
In good months I can earn 10K per month now, but it took around a year to get to. I started out working for free to build a portfolio, and then moved to $500 a site, than 1k per site, and can now hit 10k per month by either doing two big 5k website builds, or five smaller 2k per website builds.
I want you to all know, this dream whether through selling a service, building a blog, running a store, or however, is very achievable. Form a plan, learn along the way, and hustle, and your dream can be your reality as well.
